With over 20 years of experience, Derrick Whalen has established himself as a strategic IT leader. Derrick’s role entails close collaboration with HPA’s business leaders, IT team members, technology partners, and Port stakeholders. Together, they work toward developing a comprehensive multi-year IT roadmap aimed at modernizing and fortifying HPA’s technology platform, while aligning it with the organization’s corporate goals and objectives.
Derrick recently lead the implementation of a port management information system and a cutting-edge Azure-based data integration platform. His focus remains firmly fixed on enhancing cybersecurity resilience, overseeing cloud architecture migration, and fostering the growth and development of the IT team. The ultimate goal is to equip HPA with the necessary tools and capabilities to achieve operational efficiency, enhance visibility, and facilitate informed decision-making capabilities.
